Day 1 Drawing The human body and flowers

Starting with the skeleton, we will be learning how to draw the clothed human body, working from life and from photos. In particular we will be making studies of faces, hands, posture and proportions.

After lunch we will investigate colour, light and shade, and flowers with pastels, crayons and acrylic, and make scraperboards if we have time.

Day 2

Paint a portrait in acrylic on canvas 

Pop star, movie star, self portrait, or friend, family or pet - or the Mona Lisa! I will have images for you to work from, or email me in advance your chosen image so I can print it ready for you on A4. Full guidance will be given to create a realistic & artistic painting.

Day 3

Printmaking - lino-cut and drypoint etching

Using my printing press we will be exploring etching techniques, and linocutting using the new soft rubber-type lino. We will study Aubrey Beardsley, Gwen Raverat & Edward Bawden, plenty of reference material will be available to get you started.

If you have an idea you are welcome to bring it too.

Premises fully insured for public liability and employers liability, swimming pool supervised during lunchbreak. I hold a  DBS certificate.

Please bring packed lunch & swimming kit. Swimming during lunchbreak with lifeguard present, water approx. 3'6" deep. I have plenty of overalls or bring your own. Drinks and biscuits provided, and there will be morning and afternoon breaks for you to run around the garden, play table tennis and go on the swing and tyre swing.
